Mastermind & University Challenge
In 2005 Iain won Celebrity Mastermind with the specialist subject, “Malt Whiskies and the Distilleries of Scotland”
Iain also captained a team of Writers to triumph on Specialist University Challenge with teammates Jimmy McGovern, Andrew Davies and Tony Marchant.
They were first up against the Actors team of Janet Suzman, Robert Powell, Martin Jarvis and Samuel West. The Writers won with a score of 185 to 105.
The Writers team then took on the News team of Kate Adie, Nick Robinson, Michael Buerk and Bridget Kendall. The Writers won with a score of 190 to 45.
There was no trophy, just endless bragging rights...
